RRSC Newsletter 25150 Steelhead Blvd, Mailing, PO Box 007, Duncan’s Mills Ca. 95430, 707-865-9429 April, May, June 2009 Russian River Sportsmen’s club by Steve LaBranche

Beach Access Until further notice the beach will be closed to vehicular traffic. On April 7th Cal Trans accessed the club beach area to perform a 5 year underwater inspection. Although the inspection went well, it started to rain and they got two of their vehicles so stuck they had to get a Semi-Tractor wrecker to pull them out. The beach and road are impassable for vehicles at present time. Cal Trans will repair the damage to the road and level the ruts on the beach and will need time to firm up. Hopefully the repairs will improve the beach area.

     Gate Policy

When accessing the property the club would like to remind everyone to lock the gate behind you. If you leave the gate open while on the property you are responsible to ensure that anyone who enters the property is a club member. Keeping the gate closed curtails non members from trespassing the property. It is also a good idea if you see someone you do not know to ask them to show their membership card.

New PA system in Club House Through donations there is an audio amplifier installed in the club house for use as a PA system or can have a CD or MP3 player can be hooked up to it.

Things you don’t see everyday

A party go’er on their way to Cassini Ranch must have forgotten about bridge and sense of direction as Cassini Ranch is north. The morning sunlit spit of land is Freeze Out Creek riffle.

CLUB NEWS

The club house has new front stairs. Many thanks to Ray Yung, Elliot Yung, Bill Mendola, Dave ???? and Bill ????? who donated their expert skills. The stairs are much easier to use now thanks to the addition of two stairs for a 6 inch rise on each step. Thanks Guys, it’s been a long time needed.

Outside Bathrooms

Thanks to new Board member Jim Quigley for repairing the water main to the outside bathrooms. They are both working but still need some cleaning up and both need new doors. Member Frank Bertana is having new toilets installed soon. Sure is nice to see some of the club projects getting done. Thanks Jim Q.

Thursday Night Shoots?

It has been brought to the attention of the RRSC board that there is interest in starting a Thursday night shoot from 4 to 7 pm in addition to the Wednesday night shoot. Send email to labranche@pacbell.net if you think this night better suits your schedule.

Work parties needed Storeroom roof: This has been stalled for 3 years now. Initially this was a remove and re-roll roof project. It has been leaking so bad there is much wood that needs to be replaced. This has become our #1 priority. A must do before next winter. Outdoor Restrooms: The plumbing has been repaired and two toilets are operational. Two doors are still needed for privacy. Poison Oak: There are poison oak vines growing in the tall pines west of club house that need to be removed. Pine Needle removing: There is an accumulation of Pine Needle droppings behind the club house that are covering the club house floor joists. Please contact any BOD if you can volunteer any of your time or materials.
